Karaiskaki Stadion Athen
The Karaiskaki Stadium is the second largest stadium
in Athens. It was used as the velodrome for the first modern Olympic Games, in
1896. In the 1960s it was renovated into the stadium that still stands today.
The stadium has been fully renovated and transformed into a modern
Football stadium. The new venue, located in the area of Faliro, has a 33,000-seating capacity.
During the Olympic Games it will host a total of 11 games (preliminaries,
quarter-finals and semi-finals) of the Olympic Football Tournament as well as
the women’s final.
