Aussie Stadium, formally the Sydney Football Stadium, is next door to the Sydney Cricket Ground, it holds 42,000 spectators and is used for Soccer, Rugby League & Union. The stadium opened in 1988 to much acclaim for its wave-like structure. Up until 1998, the National Rugby League grand finals have been staged at the stadium until they were relocated to Stadium Australia. The stadium played host to Football during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Other big events held at the stadium include Soccer World Cup Qualifiers, NRL Grand Finals, and International Rugby Union fixtures.
